Exploring God's Creation...
Every February, Out of School Care has two early dismissal days for MarJok, and Rose Valley Elementary Schools. On these days, we are given the opportunity to go on a trip with the kids. It is a fun opportunity to explore God's creation; here we are at Kalomoir Regional Park exploring the interesting rock formations in the area. We are so thankful for the ministry that we have at Out is School Care and your support Sunridge for these young ones!
Recently @ RIDGE
Recently at RIDGE we’ve dressed up and acted out a life-size mystery game, we’ve driven Herald (the church bus) over pumpkins backwards, we’ve done devos around a campfire, Eben ate a good portion of a pool noodle, we’ve played soccer with pylons on our face, and we’ve laughed a lot. There’s been some unhappy times… getting hit in the face with a soccer ball when you have a hard plastic cone on your nose is not awesome. But mostly it’s been awesome.
We’re working our way through the Bible Projects “How to Read the Bible” and we are all, leaders included, learning a lot about this amazing book!! We 100% recommend digging into their videos about the bible.
Thank you leaders and our trusty RIDGE Roadie for making these nights great and thank you SunRidge for supporting this crew! : )
A Body of Many Parts!
A Body of Many Parts! "For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ."
~1 Corinthians 12:12
Our church family is wide and diverse, with many moving parts. Praise God for the multitude of gifts, passions and talents that are represented at SunRidge. Many parts of our church body operate behind the scenes in places like the kitchen, in prayer rooms or even behind a mop.
A few months ago, when Mei Ransom's work cut into her availability to clean the church, Adam Retzer expressed a keen interest in the job. Adam LOVES to clean and tithes his time and gifts to the church so that we can enjoy a clean facility on Sundays.
On behalf of SunRidge, we thank you Mei for your past dedication to the job, and to Adam for a heart to keep SunRidge clean!
Healthy Leadership Transition!
Part of Mike and Teresa's job as they transition out of leadership this year has been to appoint and equip others to take over their many many roles and responsibilities within Sunridge. As I (Carla) have walked in transition with Teresa to take over Ladies Devo's these past couple months, it has been a beautiful experience of being discipled, coached and prayed over. It has been such a unique blessing to gain insight on all the background intentionality that goes into leading a seemingly simple group. I am excited to see what God has in store for the Ladies Devo's group this coming year!
Also a reminder this is a small group that is open to women of all ages (plus kids) - we meet at 9am Friday mornings at the church and we are always open to new people joining. If anyone would like more information on the group feel free to contact me (Carla) or head to https://sunridge.churchcenter.com/groups
19th Annual Community Christmas Dinner
Last Saturday marked our 19th Annual Community Christmas Dinner! It was an amazing time of serving and celebrating with those in our city this Christmas season. From squeals of "I got a sled!" to a dancing cleanup party, a fun time was had by all!
Christmas is coming!
Christmas Play rehearsals have been super fun. :) The kids are really starting to get into the show! We are looking forward to the big performance on Sunday December 17th, so make sure to invite your family and friends. We're excited to see you there and celebrate the coming of our King!
There's Something About A Smashing Good Time!
We asked parents and OOSC kids to bring in their pumpkins from Halloween and we had a smash off! It was so much fun! And as always, we stay creative with the out of school kids care program. Here is Crystal pictured with some of our kids, while OOSC LiTE Leader Emi Martinez practises her creative photography skills!
Family Serving Family!
RIDGE youth is so grateful for the behind the scenes help that goes into pretty much every youth night. RIDGE Roadies (big & small) and leaders, plan and prep so that Wednesday nights can be a party! Thank you to everyone who serves behind the scenes in this way!
As you can see by the pics, they were preparing for a "smashing" success that night! :)
Fall Fun!
OOSC kids know how to make the most out of the last of the nice fall weather! They really take it to another level! (See what we did there, levels? :) )
Hats off to the OOSC team who so diligently serve our community's kids, allowing them to be kids and hear about the God who designed them just the way they are. Thanks guys, you're making a difference for the Kingdom and thanks Sunridge for investing in the future!
Men's Group Serving Together!
Our Men's Group meets once a week on Sundays. Along with walking together as men, helping each other deal with life on life's terms, we also like to serve the community by offering our gifts to those in need. This past week we met at Don's garage to fix a local brother's car. It was a great time of fellowship and it met a real need!
Children are Precious at SunRidge!
We love hearing from our kids - they are front and centre in our family and a highlight of Sundays! Proverbs 22:6 instructs us to "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
Thank you Jon and the team for leading our children in the way they should go!
OOSC Continues To Serve Our Community!
OOSC (Out-Of-School-Care) has started for the new school year! This amazing ministry serves families in our greater community (not just the church) and makes a difference in kids and their family's lives. OOSC is headed by Jon and staffed by an outstanding team - we just want to say thanks for all you do!
Sweet Endings & Exciting New Beginnings!
Well, another summer is coming to a close and fall is in the air. It's been a great summer of fun with the kids at OOSC Summer Camps. From exploring our amazing valley to exploring God's love for each of us, this will truly be a summer to remember! Thank you OOSC team for how you step up to serve our little ones.
As we move into fall mode, our Frontlines team gathered this week for a reconnect bbq and to look at how we can serve our family and especially the newcomers as they explore their relationship with the King of Kings. It was a time of good food, good conversations and plenty of laughs. Thank you to everyone who serves our family faithfully each week - you're making a Kingdom difference!
Love Burns Like A Fire
So what do you do when your church wedding venue gets evacuated friday night?!?
You take it in stride and trust in His provision! Friends and family jumped in and moved everything over to KGF, where the wedding went ahead on Saturday as planned! Congratulations to Cheryl and Steve and thank you everyone who helped make this a special day!
Praise God for our church family, both immediate and extended :)

Building the Future
Ever look at something and imagine the possibilities when it's done? What will it look like and what the future holds for it?
Construction at Sunridge has officially started for a new outdoor space behind the portable. Looking forward to enjoying this space as we continue to invest in families, OOSC and the future of Sunridge! Thanks Wayne for leading this up!

A Youth Year-End Party: Happy Birthday Everyone!!!
A Youth Year-End Party: Happy Birthday Everyone!!!
Hm… how to explain the youth wrap-up party. Things become things through lots of laughter while hanging out with friends! A thing thats become a thing is, most every youth night now, everyone gets wished “happy birthday!” Occasionally this turns into being sung “Happy Birthday!” Again, it is never actually anyone’s birthday when this happens. This was the theme for our final night, a massive birthday party to everyone!!! Decorations were everywhere, cake was thrown off the portable roof, squawkers were blown, cupcakes were eaten, games were played, including pin the braid on Kyle… with his actual cut-off hair! At the end we had a meaningful time celebrating and prayer for the graduating students as well as praying for Cole and Mary who are moving to Laos and who have faithfully served at youth for many years! Want to join the madness as a youth leader in the Fall? Reach out to kyle@sunridge.org to apply!
