Welcome Wayne Alguire! Transition Pastor starting March 1
We’re excited to announce that God has blessed us with a Transition Pastor, Wayne Alguire! He will start with us March 1 and March 3 will be Mike and Teresa’s final Sunday. Thank you to everyone who has prayed and supported this process. Please continue to pray over this, that God’s church would glorify Him and that He would provide us with what we need to carry out His mission.
Wayne Robert Alguire: The Back Story
Raised in London Ontario, Wayne faced a life-threatening battle with cancer at the age of 16. This challenging season deepened his Christian faith, grounded him in a gratefulness for the gift of each day, and continues to inspire him to live life at its best. It brings Wayne great joy to help others live as fully, bravely, and beautifully as they can.
Despite chemotherapy treatments, Wayne’s first employment during High School at a large independent clothing retailer in London, grew in him an interest in fashion, management, and leadership. This also prepared him to land a Sales position with Levi Strauss & Company, Canada based in Toronto.
Rising rapidly through several departments Wayne eventually became the VP of Sales and Marketing for Canada. His next step with Levi Strauss was to go international and choose between the Indonesian and Philippine business units as a General Manager. Wayne selected LS Philippines because it had a vibrant domestic business and was the main sourcing hub for all Southeast Asian markets. This was a significant period of professional and personal development.
In the summer of 2000, Wayne resigned from Levi Strauss & Company and joined the Willow Creek Association, (WCA), in Chicago as Vice President of International Ministries. His role was to support the expansion of the WCA’s mandate to help church leaders build prevailing local churches in several markets around the globe.
In November 2002, Wayne moved from the WCA to the Regional effort of Willow Creek Community Church as the Campus Pastor for Willow Creek McHenry County. In this role Wayne served as the primary leader of staff and core volunteers in launching a satellite site that represented a full expression of Willow to the residents of McHenry County. This faith community grew so rapidly that it soon required its own venue.
Given Wayne’s spiritual gifting of Leadership and Teaching, plus his passion to serve and lead others in a community of faith, Wayne accepted the invitation to become the Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, in Kelowna BC in February 2008. Wayne led the process to reshape and cast the Vision and Core Values of this church to maximize Kingdom Impact. This included the design, building and funding of a new Next Gen space for future generations. Wayne resigned from his position in June 2022 after almost 14 years at the helm.
Beyond these leadership roles, Wayne is serving a second four-year term as a Director on the Canadian Board of International Justice Mission. Wayne is Chair of the Board Development Committee.
Wayne and Brenda reside in Kelowna along with their two married children and two ruggedly handsome grandsons! Wayne enjoys golf, tennis, scuba diving, skiing, reading, and performing arts. Having lived internationally and travelled extensively Wayne enjoys other cultures, climates, and foods!
