Samuel Peters Baptism

“I want to do what He did, to follow Him”. It’s a beautiful line from Samuel Peters in his baptism video. He was baptized recently in his grandparent's backyard pool. A few close family members were nearby and others were able to “be there” on Zoom. You gotta watch the video - what an incredible experience! I love the line “I want to do what He did, to follow Him” because it’s got a simplicity to it. It conveys a desire for obedience that I find encouraging. Quite often we obey because we have to, or because we ought to, we know we should. But when was the last time you obeyed because you wanted to? When Jesus was baptized, it was before he had done any preaching, before he had done any healing, before walking on water, before choosing His disciples. And yet, after He was baptized, God the Father says “This is my Son with whom I am well pleased.” Pleased with what? Obedience and the desire to carry it out. Nicely done Samuel!
